at Ruge, winemaking is a choice taken by heart and it is evident in the work

The Name “Ruge” and How Came into Life

The name of the winery: Ruge is unique and there is a unique story behind the name as well. The winemaking family Ruggeri brothers were simply called and recognized as the “Ruge” for everyone. And this is how the name simply came to be.

Guardians of Their Lands

The winemakers are proud of the lands they look after and the lands that give back to them. The lands have taught the Ruggeri's the value of vines and grapes and the nutrients and the minerals needed. It is a privilege to work on this land and feel the soil of these hills.

Winemaking at their Own Pace

Ruge does not believe in making wines with competitive logic. Wines are a work of art and winemakers at Ruge respect this art with time and the pace of land and nature. No commercial pressure is given for the making of these beauties.

You can get very good prosecco’s at Ruge, a small winehouse in Valdobbiadene. Their ‘spumante’ wines are all very good, best we have had while visiting Veneto. We have heard of the place after a tip of a local that owns a prosecco shop in Padua. Of all his wines, he recommended this place to visit. If you have the chance to go there, always do it! We are already looking for a place in the Netherlands that important their wines.

What a great experience!!!! Among the various proposals in the area we found the RUGE winery and Mr. Ruggero who was super kind and showed us the entire winemaking process up to the bottling phase with passion and professionalism. And in the end we had a taste together of one of the strong points of the house! I purchased a couple of boxes and I'm sure we will remember Ruggero when we taste them.

Beautiful experience! Ruggero, super kind, showed us the production process of his wines and the difference between his products. We tasted excellent wines accompanied by bread, cheese and salami. Absolutely worth trying!
