Hooggelegen Farm, home of Signal Gun Wines, has been in the De Wit-family for over six generations, and is one of the oldest, family-owned wine farms in the Durbanville area.

The Winery

In 2010, M.J de Wit and his wife, Estani, took over the management of the farm from their parents Ryk and Elmi. They had a vision of developing the farm into a family-friendly, food and wine destination. A wine brand, Signal Gun Wines, was founded and subsequently the opening of a restaurant to showcase its wines. A few years later the tasting room and a craft beer range followed.

Taking the Opportunity

We wanted to use the opportunity we received to diversify and share the farm’s offering with the public. We’re doing this by utilizing the grapes, the beautiful setting, and by adapting the original infrastructure to be more visitor-friendly.’ M.J. and Estani de Wit, owners.

We had a really good time Thank You ! Met up with some good friends on Sunday and enjoyed the friendly staff, the awesome food and the perfect setting. The service started off a bit slow but once we were settled everything turned out great. Food was served hot and beautifully presented and very tasty indeed.

Wine tasting is suspended until April. The restaurant is brand new,the food is some of the best I have had in Cape Town.I had the mussel linguine and my husband the yellowtail. Both were excellent.Lolo served us and she was not only well trained but an absolute delight. The wines were a tad expensive, but they are going to expand their wine list, hopefully with a few more "affordable " wines.Delightful experience.

Food was delicious and definitely worth it. They were quite busy when we went and still managed to give us excellent service and quality food. There was one issue where the starter didnt arrive, but they quickly corrected it and brought it through. Worth every star. Food was so delicious, we were halfway through before we even realised we forgot to take pictures of the amazing food.
