Solera Winery: A Legacy of Wine Production for Over 200 Years

For over two centuries, Solera Winery has been crafting exceptional wines in the heart of Madrid. Nestled in the traditional winemaking village of Colmenar de Oreja, this winery blends its rich heritage with modern techniques to produce outstanding Spanish wines. Vineyards with a Rich History

Spanning 17 hectares, the vineyards at Solera Winery include vines that are up to 60 years old. The estate cultivates two primary grape varieties: the renowned Tempranillo and the local white varietal, Malvar. Utilizing traditional farming practices, the winery honors its family legacy while ensuring the highest quality grapes. After a careful manual harvest, the finest bunches are sent to the cellar for fermentation, resulting in exquisite organic red and white wines under the D.O. Madrid label.

A Modern Cellar with Traditional Touches

Set amidst fig trees, pines, and rose bushes, the Solera Winery cellar is located on Malcasado Street, enhancing its charm. Inside, you'll find clay jars used for aging wine, a nod to ancient winemaking traditions. The cellar is also equipped with stainless steel tanks featuring temperature control for optimal fermentation. Both French and American oak barrels are utilized for aging the Tempranillo and Malvar, ensuring a refined flavor profile.

Additionally, Solera Winery has a dedicated bottling room on-site. Today, it is part of a collective of 45 wineries under the Wines Denomination of Origin of Madrid, contributing to the region's rich winemaking heritage.
