A Blend of Tradition and Innovation in Hungary's Szekszárd Region
Szeleshát Estate Winery: Heart of the Szekszárd Wine Region
Located in the picturesque city of Szekszárd in Tolna County, Hungary, Szeleshát Estate Winery is nestled in the renowned Szekszárd wine region. This area, stretching 25 km along the western bank of the Danube River, is celebrated for its rich viticultural heritage, just 140-165 km south of Budapest.
Commitment to Quality Grapes
As a family-owned estate, Szeleshát spans 57 hectares, entirely dedicated to vineyards. The family acquired the land from over 50 smaller plots, beginning their winemaking journey in 1998. The first vines were planted in 2001, with expansions occurring in 2004, 2008, 2011, and 2013. Today, Szeleshát boasts a cohesive estate of 60 hectares, where the team focuses on crafting well-balanced and elegant wines, believing that exceptional wine starts with high-quality grapes.
This family-run winery combines traditional methods with innovative technology to produce outstanding wines.
High-Quality Wines Through Careful Aging
Szeleshát's vineyards feature a diverse range of grape varieties, including Welsch-Riesling, Merlot, Blaufrankisch, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Kadarka. Only the finest grapes are selected for winemaking, resulting in exquisite red, white, and rosé wines. After crushing the grapes, the juice is fermented in large vats within the cellar. The wines are then aged in barrels, ensuring a refined flavor profile before bottling.
