Tenuta Cappellina, in the Heart of Charming Chianti

Covering an expansive stretch of land 235 acres wide, Tenuta Cappellina is splendidly residing on the gentle slopes in the southern part of Chianti Classico region. The winery is a short drive of 10 minutes away from Siena around a charming landscape. A rather young winery, Tenuta Cappellina was purchased in 2012. Alex Burge is the managing director of the winery, and along with Attilio Pagli, an expert winemaker, and Giacomo Cesari, an oenologist, he administrates all the wine production process. The vineyards of Tenuta Cappellin are spread over 25 acres, 16.5 acres of which is cultivated under Chianti Classico DOCG status and 8.8 acres is within the Toscana IGT region

Following Organic Winemaking Principles

Without the use of fertilizers, the staff practices organic methods of cultivation in their vineyards. They produce a variety of vines, Cabernet Sangiovese being the primary grape one. Some other top-quality vines the estate grows are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Canaiolo that they manually pick during the time of harvesting. Using both conventional and modern techniques of wine production in their cellar, the team produces delicious red wines. Apart from that, to increase the quality of soil and provide essential nutrients to vines, they sow potassium-rich fava beans in between the vineyards’ rows.

Combination of Traditional and Modern Equipment Creating High Quality Wines

The cellar of Tenuta Cappellina is renovated with advanced technologies, along with traditional methods of winemaking. For fermentation, the production staff uses large tanks, and for sufficient maturation and refinement, they place their wines in wooden barriques and barrels, together with stainless steel tanks.
