Experience the Heart and Heritage of Tuscany in Every Bottle
A Family Winery
The Fanti Estate has been a cherished family-owned winery since 1800. In the early 1970s, Filippo Fanti transformed the estate from a sharecropping operation into a dedicated winery, marking a pivotal moment in its history. Today, Filippo and his daughter Elisa meticulously oversee every aspect of wine production, ensuring that each bottle reflects their family's passion and commitment to quality.
Estates of Tenuta Fanti
Spanning approximately 200 hectares, the estate features 50 hectares of specialized vineyards, 40 hectares of olive groves with over 7,000 olive trees, and 50 hectares of sown crops, alongside lush woodlands. The vineyards are nestled in an amphitheater of south-facing hills in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, near the historic Abbey of Sant’Antimo. Additional vineyards cascade down from the fortified village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate into the picturesque Orcia Valley.
The Winery Today
In recent years, Tenuta Fanti has significantly expanded its vineyards, growing from 8 hectares in the 1980s to over 50 hectares today. The estate produces a variety of wines, including Sant’Antimo DOC, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. New Sangiovese vineyards have been established, alongside experimental plantings of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah for reds, as well as Vermentino, Trebbiano, Malvasia, Viognier, and San Colombano for whites. The family has also been producing extra virgin olive oil for over 200 years, with main varieties including Olivastra, Moraiolo, Correggiolo, and Leccino.
