Stretched between the rolling hills of Langhe and Monferrato, Tenuta Il Falchetto is a large estate divided into several sub estates. Three wineries are located in the beautiful towns of Cuneo province – Santo Stefano Belbo and Castiglione tine and three more in Asti province in the hamlets of Agliano Terme and Calosso.
The Fornos family has a great history of winemaking, established by Pietro Forno in 1940. He began the vine production using one variety of grape – Moscato. In later years, many advancements took place, such as renovation of the cellar, restoration of vineyards and introduction of modern techniques. Today, the fourth generation of Fornos family is handling the winery, owned by three brothers – Giorgio, Fabrizio and Adriano Forno.
The vineyards are planted with a wide array of nine vine varieties which includes both native and international, carefully chosen by the owners. 50% of the vineyards are dedicated to Moscato cultivation while 30% area is given to Barbera under Barbera D’alba Doc. Along with that, 20% area of vine plantation is for unique Dolcetto, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Nero. The staff carefully carries out the winter pruning and summer thinning, followed by 100% manual methods of harvesting to obtain only the best grapes for wines.
Besides, Tenuta Il Falchetto boasts one of the best award-winning Moscato and Barbera wines. You can get a chance to savour them. All you need to do is plan a trip to the winery and create some unforgettable memories with your loved ones.
