Story of Terre des 2 Sources

Terre des 2 Sources was established by two couples united by a shared vision: to find the perfect land for creating outstanding wines. Their search led them to Domaine de la Devèze, a hidden treasure located just south of the Cévennes mountains. The unique combination of diverse soils, slopes, and aspects, along with a climate influenced by higher elevations and mountain proximity, allows the vineyards to produce wines that are both complex and elegant.

Terre des 2 Sources Vineyard

Spanning 34 hectares, the vineyard features seventeen distinct grape varieties. Situated nearly 200 meters above sea level, the vineyards are characterized by gentle to moderate slopes. The oldest vines date back to 1955, with additional plantings occurring steadily from the early 1970s through 2008. At Terre des 2 Sources, the focus is on achieving a harmonious balance between soil, rainfall, temperature, vine growth, and grape yield. This careful management results in healthy soils, thriving vines, and high-quality wines.

Terroir of Terre des 2 Sources

Terre des 2 Sources is recognized for several appellations, including AOP Terrasses du Larzac, AOP Languedoc, and IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. The vineyard's soils are primarily clay-based with limestone origins, often containing a mix of medium to small stones. The higher elevation helps moderate the climate, leading to cooler summer nights. This temperature variation enhances the acidity of the grapes, resulting in elegant, age-worthy wines. Additionally, the constant winds help reduce humidity and deter pests, contributing to the overall health of the vineyard.
