A Scenic Winery in the Heart of Veneto
Vignalta Winery is beautifully situated among the picturesque hills of the Veneto region. Known for its exceptional sparkling, red, and white wines, this estate is surrounded by historic castles, charming churches, and stunning villas. The name Vignalta translates to "high vines," making it an ideal destination for history buffs, wine lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Today, Vignalta stands as the largest producer of Colli Euganei DOC and Fior D’arancio DOCG wines, showcasing the rich viticultural heritage of the area.
The Origins of Vignalta
Founded in 1980 by Lucio Gomiero, Vignalta Winery has its roots in a passion for Bordeaux wines. Initially an architect and the largest radicchio grower in the region, Lucio began his winemaking career as a hobbyist. What started as a fun project with eight acres of vineyards blossomed into a thriving winery, producing 20,000 cases of wine annually. Lucio refers to himself as an "accidental winemaker," but his dedication and hard work have made Vignalta a respected name in the wine industry.
A Diverse Range of Grapes in the Euganean Hills
Vignalta Winery spans 120 acres of vineyards, primarily cultivating Bordeaux varietals. Alongside the flagship Gemola, Lucio grows premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Carmenere, Manzoni Bianco, and Chardonnay. The estate also features plots dedicated to Moscato Bianco, Moscato Giallo, Pinot Grigio, Syrah, Friularo di Bagnoli, and Sauvignon. Visitors can appreciate the meticulous care that goes into each bottle and savor the unique flavors of Vignalta's wines.
