A Rich Heritage and Commitment to Quality in Moravia
History of The Winery
Vinařství Zapletal, a family-owned winery, was established in 1994, but its roots trace back to the early 19th century. A testament to this legacy is the historic grape press from 1818, which remains a cherished feature of the wine cellar.
Founded by Václav Zapletal, the winery reflects generations of winemaking expertise. In 2005, his son Jan joined the family business after completing his studies at the Secondary Wine School in Valtice and the Mendel University in Brno. The winery produces wines exclusively from their own grapes, utilizing modern techniques while honoring traditional methods, such as fermentation in vats and aging in wooden barrels. Committed to sustainable practices, Vinařství Zapletal is part of the Integrated Production system, which minimizes chemical use in vineyard management. Each bottle embodies the unique character shaped by the natural environment, the meticulous work of the winemaker, and the family's passion for quality.
Vineyard & Terroir
Vinařství Zapletal cultivates 20 hectares of prime vineyards in Velké Bílovice, a region known for its exceptional wine production in South Moravia. Approximately 50% of these vineyards have been newly planted since 2003. Located in the Velkopavlovická sub-region, this area boasts the warmest climate in the Czech Republic, with a diverse subsoil of black soil, loess, calcareous clays, sandstones, and conglomerates, ideal for growing high-quality grape varieties, particularly blue grapes. The vineyard routes include Nová Hora, Zadní Hora, Dlouhá Hora, Široká Hora, and Od Čejkovsko.
