Crafting Unique Organic Wines in Moravia
Decades of Family Passion
Founded in 1990, Víno Marcinčák Organic Winery is a family-owned gem located in the heart of Europe, specifically in the picturesque region of Moravia, Czech Republic. Their commitment to quality is evident in their meticulous hand-harvesting process, ensuring that each grape is treated with care to preserve its distinct character. They harness renewable solar energy and create their own compost and biodynamic preparations, leading the way in sustainable farming practices. With over 110 hectares of certified organic vineyards, they proudly stand as the largest organic wine producer in the Czech Republic.
Organic Winemaking at Víno Marcinčák
At their winery, they prioritize ecological farming methods, crafting our own vermicompost and organic treatments for our vineyards. The unique soil and climate of Moravia contribute to an exceptional terroir, perfect for producing remarkable wines. Their dedication to organic practices not only enhances the quality of our wines but also supports the environment. More then twenty years ago, Marcinčák family made the bold decision to abandon conventional farming and fully embrace organic viticulture. At the time, organic methods were still met with skepticism in Central Europe, but Víno Marcinčák proved that chemical-free vineyards could yield wines of both exceptional quality and authenticity. For over two decades, no herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers have touched their soils.
Transition to Biodynamics
In recent years, the winery has taken its ecological philosophy even further by converting its vineyards to biodynamic farming, aligning viticulture with natural rhythms and holistic soil management. The winery holds Demeter certification as a first ever winery in Moravia, the international gold standard for biodynamic agriculture.
Awards and International Recognition
Víno Marcinčák’s commitment has translated into extraordinary results. The winery is an 11-time winner of Biovíno roku (Czech Organic Wine of the Year), most recently with the Pálava výběr z bobulí 2024, confirming its status as a consistent leader in quality and best organic winery in Czech republic. Internationally, the winery has earned Platinum medals at Grow du Monde and accolades from respected competitions such as Grand Gold at Asia Wine Trophy, Berlin Wine Trophy, Platinum at Great American International Wine Competition, Texas International Wine Competition, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and the Prague Wine Trophy and more.
Sustainability and Biodiversity
Ecology is not a marketing slogan but a lived philosophy. In the vineyards, cover crops and flowering herbs encourage biodiversity, protect against erosion, and support beneficial insects such as predatory mites and butterflies. The winery invests in soil health projects, pioneering practices that many now consider essential in the era of climate change.
Mastery of Special Wines
Beyond classic white and red varietals, Víno Marcinčák has distinguished itself as a master of special wine styles unique to Central Europe:
- Straw wines (slámová vína), produced under a Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) and regularly awarded.
- Ice wines (ledová vína), capturing the intensity and purity of frozen grapes.
- Výběry z cibéb, rare sweet wines from naturally botrytised berries.
The winery also develops innovative product lines to reach diverse audiences, from the more than 20 year tradition of playful Bokovka cuvées to the elegant sparkling Marsecco.
Cultural Role and Exports
Víno Marcinčák is not only a producer but also a cultural ambassador for Czech organic wine. Its bottles travel well beyond Moravia, reaching markets in Canada, Netherlands, or the USA, while at home the winery plays an active role in regional festivals and tourism — from Pálavské vinobraní to Novosedelské sklepy OPEN. Educational initiatives such as the Stará Hora vineyard trail introduce visitors to both the landscape and the ecological values behind every bottle.
A Legacy of Innovation and Responsibility
In recent years, “regenerative” and “biodynamic” have become fashionable buzzwords in the wine world. Many wineries sprinkle them into their marketing, yet farm conventionally and carry no certification to back the claims. Víno Marcinčák is different. For two decades, it has been fully certified organic, and in 2025 will be Demeter biodynamic certified, the most rigorous standard in the world. What others use as slogans, Víno Marcinčák lives every day in its vineyards. That is why the estate stands not only as a leader in quality, but as a benchmark of authenticity in Czech and European winemaking.
