Weingut Dr. Leimbrock, Located in the Finest Winegrowing Region of the Mosel
Weingut Dr. Leimbrock is situated in the finest winegrowing region of the Mosel in Germany. Cultivated on the steep slopes of ‘Devonian’ soil and weathered blue slate, the vines boost the fertility of the vines and create an ideal environment for Riesling. Today, the estate has received recognition on national and international fronts and has won many awards for their high-quality Weingut Dr. Leimbrock wines.
Weingut Dr. Leimbrock has mostly been led by the females of the family since 1893.
Female Led Winery with Dedication and Passion
Mostly led by females of the family, Emilie acquired the estate in 1893 from her father, Friedrich Herrmann. Later, the Liembrock Family’s sons – Friedhelm and Götz – married to wine daughters of Brauneberg and castles and continued wine production with dedication and passion. Today, after 45 years, Ulrike Leimbrock – the youngest daughter of Friedhelm, handles the functionality, along with Friedhelm, the winemaker, and Andrea Oeffling the sales executive. In 2013, Ulrike became the sole owner of the estate and expanded the production.
Vineyards and Wine Development
The vineyards at Weingut Dr. Leimbrock stretch over nine hectares in the charming and fertile locations of the Middle Mosel – Mülheim, Brauneberg, Bernkastel, and Graach. Riesling is their most cultivated varietal, others include Weißer Burgunder, Pinot Blanc, and Kerner. In autumn, these vines are carefully handpicked, followed by a soft pressing. The estate produces dazzling white and sparkling wines, combined with rich-quality dessert wines. Wooden barrels are used to store several styles of wines for efficient refining and wine development. The Rieslings are placed in stainless steel tanks for refining, followed by bottling in a dedicated bottle room.
