History of the Winery

Weingut Karp-Schreiber has a rich history that dates back to 1664 in the esteemed Mosel wine region of Germany. Located in the beautiful Mosel Valley, the winery is surrounded by rolling hills and steep slopes along the Mosel River. The founders, who were both winemakers and fishermen, drew inspiration from their catch of carp, which is reflected in the winery's name, “Karp.” Now in the hands of the 13th generation, the winery continues to produce elegant and distinctive wines that honor its long-standing legacy.

Set against breathtaking natural scenery, Weingut Karp-Schreiber is a perfect place to relax and appreciate the beauty of the Mosel Valley. The winery employs traditional organic viticulture alongside modern techniques to achieve a harmonious balance of sugar and acidity in their wines. The vineyards, located on the renowned slopes of Brauneberger Juffer and Juffer-Sonnenuhr, yield some of the region's finest fruit-forward grapes. While Riesling is the primary varietal, Sauvignon Blanc is also cultivated, allowing for a diverse selection of red, white, rosé, and dessert wines.

The winery's cellar exudes traditional charm, where a variety of wines are crafted, including dry, off-dry, and sweet options, as well as red and rosé wines. Approximately 80% of their production focuses on Riesling, with Sauvignon Blanc complementing their offerings. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the area through numerous hiking and cycling trails, enhancing the experience of wine tasting at this historic estate.
