Alsace Gilbert Ruhlmann Fils: A Winery with a Rich History

Founded in 1958 by former lumberjack Gilbert Ruhlmann, Alsace Gilbert Ruhlmann Fils winery is nestled in the picturesque Alsatian vineyards. Initially, Gilbert sold most of his first vintage to local suppliers in bottles. After marrying in 1962, he moved to Scherwiller and focused on cultivating three grape varieties on his small farm. In the 1970s, he constructed a new winery dedicated to producing exceptional Alsatian wines. By the 1980s, the winery expanded its offerings to include seven grape varieties, and in 1984, they introduced their first Crémant d’Alsace to the market.

Today, Gilbert's sons, Guy and Pascal, carry on the family tradition of winemaking at Alsace Gilbert Ruhlmann Fils. The winery is strategically located along the renowned Wine Route, close to the historic Ortenbourg Castle. The estate's terroir, characterized by granite and gravelly soils, contributes to the unique flavors of their wines. The winery specializes in a diverse range of white wines, rosés, and sparkling wines crafted from grape varieties such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, and Muscat. Guy and Pascal, along with their dedicated team, adhere to TERRA VITIS certification and traditional methods to preserve their winemaking heritage.
