Jean-louis Schoepfer Winery, a Family Run Boutique Winery for 13 Generations Since 1656
The Jean-Louis Schoepfer winery is present in the center of Alsace, above the hills of Wintzenheim and Wettolsheim. Since 1656, the family business has been passing on from father to son for thirteen generations, and currently, Jean-Louis’ two sons run the estate. Christophe takes care of administration and winemaking while Gilles oversees the marketing of wines and viticulture. Since acquiring the vines, the family has always maintained the love and respect for the land. With the passing of knowledge and tradition from one generation to the next, they have been successful in making genuinely authentic and high-quality wines. The estate owns around 10 hectares of vineyards with 60 acres under the Grand Cru appellation.
Perfect Wine Growing Region of Alsace Region
The natural conditions in the Alsace region are perfect for the cultivation of vines. The soil, temperature, rainfall, and sunshine helps to grow fruity grapes for their wines. The main grape varieties that grow in their vineyards are Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Noir. Only the best grapes are handpicked by the workers and further processed to make their high-quality red, white, rose, sparkling, and dessert wines. Their modern wine cellar is equipped with all modern facilities and winemaking technology. The cellar has stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 800 hectoliters. The traditional cellar has oak casks, most of which are more than 100 years old. The family does all the work from the vineyards to the cellar, and the tradition and love for winemaking run through their veins.
