A Family Legacy of Passionate Winemaking in Alsace
Passion and Terroir
Maison Jean Huttard embodies a deep-rooted passion for winemaking that has been cherished through generations. Established in Zellenberg since 1860, our winery is an independent family business that thrives on the rich terroirs of Alsace. With a commitment to ecological and sustainable viticulture, siblings Antoine and Hélène bring a fresh perspective to our time-honored traditions. Experience the vibrant spirit of Alsace, where our wines reflect the unique character of the region and our dedication to the environment.
History
The history of Maison Jean Huttard dates back to 1860, weaving together the past and future of winemaking. In the 1940s, the vineyard underwent significant reorganization, leading to the establishment of the Jean Huttard brand. Jean Jacques, a visionary winemaker, pioneered sustainable practices, becoming one of the first to mow the vines before the 1950s, aligning with organic principles. He transitioned from bottling all the wines on the property to focusing on quality. In 1974, he played a key role in introducing the Crémant d'Alsace appellation and was among the first to plant Chardonnay in this region, setting the stage for exclusive production.
Environment
At Maison Jean Huttard, we prioritize sustainable vineyard management, ensuring that our practices are environmentally friendly. Our ideal growing conditions allow us to nurture each vine, producing high-quality grapes while adapting to climate challenges. This commitment not only enhances the quality of our wines but also preserves the natural ecosystem of our vineyards.
