A Boutique Winery in McLaren Vale

Aphelion Wines is a world-class boutique winery located in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Founded in 2014 by Rob and Lou Mack, the winery began with a vision and a modest investment. Every aspect of the winery, from vineyard selection to marketing and sales, is managed by Rob and Lou, showcasing their dedication and hands-on approach.

Their wines are celebrated for their quality, reflecting the unique characteristics of their vineyards and the surrounding terroir.

Handcrafted Wines of Aphelion

Situated between picturesque hills and the sea, Aphelion specializes in Grenache. Aphelion has a reputation for producing amongst the best Grenache in McLaren Vale, as reported by James Suckling, Decanter, Robert Parker, Halliday Wine Companion and The Real Review.

The couple started with just one ton of exceptional Grenache from Blewitt Springs, producing their first four wines, which quickly sold out. Since 2017, they have expanded their offerings to include Chenin Blanc, Mourvedre, Nero d'Avola and Falanghina.

Every step, from hand-pruning the vines to bottling, is done manually, ensuring high quality in every bottle. Today, their wines are available throughout Australia and internationally.

Taste the Sun in Every Sip

Rob, Lou, and their dedicated growers prioritize bio-organic practices, implementing sustainable methods to protect the environment and the health of their vines. Their commitment to quality is evident in every wine they produce.

Aphelion Wines offers a diverse selection of red, white, and rosé wines, each crafted to perfection, allowing wine lovers to enjoy the essence of McLaren Vale.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience at Aphelion. Their staff were super knowledgeable and their wines are just perfection. We felt welcome from the moment we stepped through the doors. The whole experience was interactive but also allowed us our own time to chat amongst ourselves. We walked away with multiple bottles and look forward to purchasing more in the future. A five star experience.

In a region with some big names and and big flashy cellar doors, it's very easy to miss the little gems like Aphelion. Don't! We visited yesterday and are so glad we did. Not only is the wine exceptional, but the whole experience at the cellar door is warm, fun and as wine-nerdy as you'd like it to be. Nestled in a bush setting, this new cellar door brings something special to McLaren Vale. Giulia is a star!

What a stunning cellar door! We had such a delightful time visiting this beautiful spot while staying in the area. Giulia greeted us so warmly and was so attentive (even when she was very busy!) They have so many lovely spots to sit, inside and out, the sparkling wine was delish and their Plumm glasses are so divine we now have a pair to drink from at home! Highly recommend stopping in for a visit.

New cellar door location for the SA brand, Aphelion. Nice little “homely” fit out. I think it would be perfect for smaller groups but I noticed they are also setting up an outdoor area overlooking vines where you will be able to grab a bottle and some food (they have local selection of cheeses etc you can create your own platter) and relax. Really great wines, for me the Grenache range and also the Chenin Blanc, I this it was called “Pir” was the pick of my tastes. Located in a handy spot near other venues but also a location that you feel you are away in the bush.. great location.
