Passion for Wine, Commitment to Tradition, and Sustainable Practices
Passion For Fine Wines at Azienda Agricola Edoardo Patrone
Azienda Agricola Edoardo Patrone, founded by Edoardo Patrone in Domodossola, Alto Piemonte, is a testament to a lifelong passion for wine. After earning a degree in “Viticoltura e Enologia” from the University of Torino, Edoardo gained valuable experience working in Spain, Barolo, and Australia. Despite his travels, he always felt a strong pull to return to the Ossola Valley to revive its vineyards and continue the region's winemaking legacy. In 2016, he returned home and established the winery, driven by his love for the craft.
Facing Challenges Head-On
As a new entrepreneur, Edoardo encountered various challenges, including the impacts of climate change and a decline in local vineyards. In 2017, he met Stella Tâm V, a Vietnamese postgraduate student, and they married that same year. Together, they launched their winery with a commitment to natural practices, producing their first vintage under the concept “Be Natural.” This approach emphasizes the use of natural fertilizers and the avoidance of chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides, contributing to sustainable viticulture.
Building a Legacy from the Ground Up
Starting with just 0.3 hectares in 2016, the winery has grown significantly, recovering 28 vineyards by the end of 2021, totaling 5 hectares in the Ossola Valley. Many of these vineyards were originally cultivated 30–40 years ago, and it is a privilege for the team to continue this rich tradition. From 2017 to 2018, they produced a rosé named Testa Rusa and four red wines, primarily from Merlot and Prünent, the local name for Nebbiolo. In 2019, they introduced Basin, the first sparkling rosé from the Ossola Valley. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic in 2020, they began a new vineyard in Vagna and started creating beauty products from grape skins in 2021.
Visitors are welcome to learn more about the winery by touring the vineyards and cellar, where they can taste the wines and participate in events throughout the year that celebrate the love of wine.
