The Story of Azienda Agricola Marco Rabino

Azienda Agricola Marco Rabino, nestled in Montaldo Scarampi, is a family-owned winery with a rich history spanning four generations. Situated in the heart of Piedmont, this region is renowned for its exceptional red wines, particularly Barbera and Grignolino. The winery continues to honor traditional winemaking methods that have been passed down through over a century of harvests.

The Favorable Terroirs of the Winery

The unique terroir of Azienda Agricola Marco Rabino plays a crucial role in the quality of its wines. The soil, composed of limestone, clay, and sandy elements, provides the ideal foundation for cultivating vines. This combination fosters the strength and finesse characteristic of classic red wines. The climate is also beneficial, with warm temperatures during the growing season (April to October) and rainfall in the spring and autumn. Currently, the vineyard spans 5 hectares, with 80% dedicated to Barbera and the remaining 20% to Grignolino and Sauvignon Blanc.

The Wine-Making Process

The winemaking process at Marco Rabino begins with careful manual harvesting, ensuring that only the finest grapes are selected. Once in the cellar, the grapes are gently pressed and placed in stainless steel containers for natural fermentation. Depending on the grape variety, fermentation lasts from one to two weeks before the wines are separated. The wines then mature in oak barrels for approximately 11 months before bottling, allowing them to develop their full character and complexity.

We took advantage of our trip to discover the wines of Marco RABINO. We really fell in love with the Baldore Barbera d'Asti 2018. It is a powerful, fruity and full-bodied wine that goes wonderfully with grilled meats but also with a spicy pasta dish. We recommend it to all travelers and lovers of Italy
