Repesenting Family Tradtions
Josetta Saffirio Cellars has an ancient history, that began in the late
nineteenth century with the first Saffirio, Giovanni Battista, who moved from Bosnia, to live in the Langhe.
In the early twentieth century, Ernesto, Josetta’s father, after purchasing the land from his brothers, began to cultivate its vineyards. In 1975, a young Josetta decided to get involved in her father's business.
How it All Started
With a degree in agriculture and helped by her husband Roberto, a winemaker, she began to cultivate the vineyards planted by her grandparents shortly after the Second World War.
After a few years, Josetta and Roberto were rewarded for their efforts and succeed in producing an award-winning Nebbiolo.
In 1985 they presented the first Barolo with the current label, the result of a passion and a commitment that never wavered.
After a break in the ‘90, Roberto and Sara, Josetta’s daughter, decided to devote themselves full time to the family vineyards.
Sara represents the fifth generation of farmers and with the same dedication as the first generation, she is committed to continuing a tradition now more than two hundred years old.
Cantina Saffirio is a family business. Sara tends the vineyards with love and passion, blending the traditions inherited from her grandparents with modern cultivation and production techniques. Sustainability and respect for the environment
are the keywords: everything is oriented towards a view to reducing our carbon footprint, in order to bequeath to our children a healthy and generous land capable of producing one of the most famous wines in the world, Barolo.
The visit to the winery is transformed into an immersive experience, where visitors become part of the experience, creating a memory destined to make its mark.
The winery is available for private events based on availability and needs. The large outdoor area, a park, a romantic walking trail and breathtaking landscapes are the key ingredients to make any special event an unforgettable moment.
Josetta Saffirio estate is located in Monforte d’Alba, one of the eleven municipalities of the Barolo, in the heart of the Langhe, part of the UNESCO Heritage from 2014
