,h3>Winemaking in the Family

Josetta Saffirio Cellars has an ancient history, that began in the late
nineteenth century with the first Saffirio, Giovanni Battista, who moved from Bosnia, to live in the Langhe.
In the early twentieth century, Ernesto, Josetta’s father, after purchasing the land from his brothers, began to cultivate its vineyards. In 1975, a young Josetta decided to get involved in her father's business.

How it All Started

With a degree in agriculture and helped by her husband Roberto, a winemaker, she began to cultivate the vineyards planted by her grandparents shortly after the Second World War.
After a few years, Josetta and Roberto were rewarded for their efforts and succeed in producing an award-winning Nebbiolo.
In 1985 they presented the first Barolo with the current label, the result of a passion and a commitment that never wavered.
After a break in the ‘90, Roberto and Sara, Josetta’s daughter, decided to devote themselves full time to the family vineyards.
Sara represents the fifth generation of farmers and with the same dedication as the first generation, she is committed to continuing a tradition now more than two hundred years old.
Cantina Saffirio is a family business. Sara tends the vineyards with love and passion, blending the traditions inherited from her grandparents with modern cultivation and production techniques. Sustainability and respect for the environment
are the keywords: everything is oriented towards a view to reducing our carbon footprint, in order to bequeath to our children a healthy and generous land capable of producing one of the most famous wines in the world, Barolo.

The visit to the winery is transformed into an immersive experience, where visitors become part of the experience, creating a memory destined to make its mark.
The winery is available for private events based on availability and needs. The large outdoor area, a park, a romantic walking trail and breathtaking landscapes are the key ingredients to make any special event an unforgettable moment.

Josetta Saffirio estate is located in Monforte d’Alba, one of the eleven municipalities of the Barolo, in the heart of the Langhe, part of the UNESCO Heritage from 2014

A lovely, interesting tour. A complete tasting with our guide's excellent availability and patience! During the tasting, Monster Son even had the opportunity to draw with the paints provided by the establishment. The picnic won't take place on site; instead, a complete box will be provided, which you can enjoy wherever you want.

Intrigued by the recent news that the owner of Diesel, Renzo Rosso, has acquired the majority of the company shares, I came here to discover and taste the wines that this small family business has been producing for five generations. I must say that I realized the reason for this choice almost immediately after my arrival. First of all, with my wife we were welcomed by Mr. Vittorio, the company's winemaker, who accompanied us with great professionalism, kindness and passion both in the visit to the winery and in the small tasting of the wines we requested. The Barbera, the Nebbiolo, is the Barolo DOCG of the Municipality of Monforte What can I say about Barbera ... for someone who has never loved Barbera, let alone brought it to the table ... it was a bolt from the blue ... an intoxicating scent. Fresh with a beautiful purple color... delicious Nebbiolo is excellent... its vermilion color alone makes you want it, plus its aroma and soft, balanced taste Barolo docg It's something sublime... for its ruby color, intense aroma, balanced and fruity taste without tannin residues that dry out the mouth, in my opinion it is the most suitable Barolo... for everyone... combined with many dishes... and also suitable for young people.. And then let's talk about the bottle labels... the dwarves... designed by Josetta Saffirio... original... delicious... And when you uncork one... and take the cork in your hand... you find something written on it: "The path of the dream is covered with nettles... and cuts into the heart... but it smells of roses and the light of glory." Then you are speechless and can only enjoy the taste. In this company there is not only passion for wine, quality and environmental sustainability in production, but also a soul. Compliments… Today, 04/30/23, we returned to buy again the delicious Barbera and Nebbiolo wines and we also bought the meditation box, a set consisting of 3 bottles, 1 Passito wine, 1 Barolo grappa and 1 Vermuth from Turin We were greeted by Vittorio who with his kindness and helpfulness always makes us want to return
