Exceptional Barbera Wines from the Heart of Gaggino
A Picturesque Winery Surrounded by Nature
Azienda Vitivinicola Urscheler Roberto is a charming winery nestled in the scenic Nizza hills of the Monferrato region. This area is renowned for its exceptional Barbera grape cultivation, making it a prime location for producing high-quality Barbera wines. Managed by winemaker Roberto Urscheler and his wife Maura, who oversees marketing, the estate spans 7 hectares. This includes 5.5 hectares surrounding their historic home and an additional 1.5 hectares from nearby rented vineyards.
Ideal Terroirs for Quality Grapes
The vineyard employs the Gujot method, a labor-intensive technique that emphasizes manual care for each vine. From cultivation to grape harvesting, every step is performed by hand to ensure the highest quality. The vineyard's location, combined with its unique soil and climate, contributes to the production of outstanding Barbera wines, rich in flavor and aroma.
Artisanal Winemaking Process
Once harvested, the grapes are crushed and pressed for fermentation. Red grapes undergo traditional fermentation with their skins, while white grapes are gently pressed to preserve their delicate aromas. The skins are included during fermentation to extract color and tannins. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to stainless steel vats for temperature-controlled maturation. Finally, the wines are bottled and stored in the cellar, ready to be enjoyed.
