The Essence of Galician Winemaking

Nestled near A Cañiza, between the renowned Rias Baixas and Ribeiro regions, Bodega Torgo is a charming Galician winery that spans a single hectare. This unique vineyard, surrounded by granite walls and flourishing with fruit trees, flowers, and natural springs, was established 80 years ago by a self-taught Galician emigrant from Lisbon. In the year 2000, his daughter revitalized the estate, continuing her father's vision of crafting exquisite Torgo wines. The vineyard is dedicated exclusively to cultivating high-quality grapes for the winery's production.

Quality Wines from Torgo's Vines

The vineyard is divided into two distinct plots: Finca do Torgo and Campo de Arriba, where Albariño, Loureira, and Treixadura grape varieties thrive. Bodega Torgo practices organic farming, incorporating biodynamic methods, indigenous yeast fermentation, and low-sulfur bottling. The winemakers respect the natural processes, allowing spontaneous fermentation to take place without intervention. By prioritizing quality over quantity, the winery exemplifies sustainable organic viticulture, ensuring that each bottle reflects the true character of the land.

We were a group of friends, the stay was great, the houses are renovated with great style, the views are magnificent. The environment is beautiful, Galicia in its purest form, the vineyard is great, the visit to its winery is very interesting. The owners behaved wonderfully, it was a weekend of total DISCONNECTION. Absolutely recommended.

Most special wine experience I ever had. The hosts were really friendly while showing the property and the process to make the wine. They made us feel welcome, like we're spending time with family. It was a really unique experience and the wine was amazing. I will definetly recomend this place.

Several months ago we stayed in one of the winery's cottages with three large dogs without any problems, which is rare these days. We found the cottage very cosy, with a private garden and a kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare a good breakfast, with fresh bread that was brought to us that very morning. In addition to the cottage, we enjoyed a visit to the winery and the vineyard (accompanied by our pets), followed by a wine tasting with an aperitif in the unbeatable company of Magdalena and Javier. We enjoyed their charming personality so much that it got dark! As for the surroundings, there is a magnificent hiking route with several slopes that passes a short distance from the property and in front of a local restaurant. We plan to go back!

We spent a week in August in the 'Libro con vino' house in this exceptional place. The house is great with unbeatable decor and dream views. It is the perfect place for hikers, to visit both Portugal and Galicia and 10 minutes away is one of the best restaurants we have known - Cruceiro da Balsada. The hosts couldn't be nicer and willing to help us with anything. We visited their winery where they make a delicious alboriño and they explained the entire process of making it, which was very interesting. We spent a very nice afternoon with them in the shade of the largest kiwi we have ever seen tasting wine. We were very sorry to leave, and back in Malaga, we missed the good bread that Magdalena always left on the porch for breakfast. 5 stars is not enough for this wonderful site.

An amazing project run by an amazing couple. Went there with my sister and three dogs to unwind and enjoyed great wine and interesting conversations. They rent out cottages where you can stay with your pets and the routes in the area are stunning! Make sure you visit Torgo Bodegas and sleep at La Pampla!
