Welcome to Val Da Lenda Located in the picturesque Amandi region of Lugo, Galicia, Val Da Lenda is a family-owned winery nestled within the renowned Denomination of Origin Ribeira Sacra. Our vineyards thrive on the steep slopes along the Sil River, where the challenging terrain allows us to practice what is known as heroic viticulture. The diverse soils here contribute to the unique character of our wines, with a focus on the celebrated Mencía grape, which serves as the cornerstone of our winemaking tradition.

Our Winemaking Heritage With roots tracing back several generations, our winery became one of the pioneers of the Denomination of Origin when it was officially recognized in 1991. We produce Val Da Lenda exclusively from Mencía grapes harvested from our own vineyards in Amandi. As part of our commitment to quality, we are currently replanting older plots, aiming to increase our vineyard area by half a hectare for the upcoming harvest. This expansion will help us reach a production goal of 20,000 liters of our own wine, allowing us to share the essence of our land with wine enthusiasts.

We went as a group of friends to visit the winery and wine tasting. It is a small, family-run winery. They explained the entire process to obtain the wine, both red and white. In the tasting, 3 red wines are tested, including a reserve, 1 godello, 1 vermouth and 2 liqueurs. Everything very good, with proper explanations. At the end of the tasting you can buy the bottles you want. You can pay by card and in cash.

My husband and I did a multi-day wine tour throughout the entire region of Galicia in October 2024 and this winery was one of our stops. Unfortunately the day we visited the owner got called away on a business emergency, but our private guide was able to step in and show us around. It was really cool that we got to go out to their vineyard along the cliffside and explore! When we came back, the owner's mother (I think it was his mother) showed us around the winery and hosted our tasting. Even though she did not speak any English, and we did not speak any Spanish, we had such a great time! She was so lively and fun! Our private guide acted as a translator and we all had a lovely time! She even let us taste some of their homemade fire water and vermouth. Best fire water and vermouth we've ever had! I dream about that caramel fire water! We hope they get the approval to start bottling and selling the vermouth later this year!! Thanks for a great visit!!
