Alma Das Donas and Its Magic of Making Wine

The winery is located in Galicia, the region that represents different Spain. This Spain is not about Mediterranean beaches and heat, it is about Atlantic breeze, green forest, and magic of winemaking. Alma Das Donas is perfectly integrated within the hills of Ribeira Sacra. They produce wines from the grapes grown on 3 hectares of their own vineyards surrounding estate. It takes a fair sacrifice and effort to grow the highest quality vines. That is how the owners of the winery believe the wine must be made – one have to put all their best to make a good wine.

Vineyards on the Hills Along the River

The vineyards have granite and salty soils and lay along the banks of the Sil River. There is an ideal environment for vinegrowing due to the location on a steep southwest facing elevation. The average age of vines here is 50 years. The owners here try to restrict mechanical intervention: they follow the concept of Heroitic Viticulture that, for example, requires hand-picking harvest only. Such approach allows to preserve fragile hills and vines from destruction. The grape varietals grown here are typical for the Galician region: Mencía and Godello.

Internation Wine Awards Winning Winery

The wines of Alma Das Donas were distinguished by Spanish and international wine awards. Among the awards are: Gold and Silver medals at Mondial des Vins Extrêmes and more than 90 points for differents wine positions from la Guía Peñín.
