Sustainable Winemaking in Mendoza, Argentina
Bodega Zolo: Crafting Organic Wines with Care
Located in Agrelo, Bodega Zolo stands out as a leader in organic and sustainable wine production in Argentina. With the capacity to produce two million liters of wine annually, the winery utilizes state-of-the-art steel tanks and has two aging rooms housing around 1,300 barrels.
Modern Technology Meets Tradition
Under the guidance of Fabian Valenzuela, Bodega Zolo employs advanced technology, including vertical and hydropneumatic presses, a bottling line, and ample storage space. Since 2012, Valenzuela has collaborated with renowned winemaker Jean Claude Berrouet, who brings over 40 years of expertise from France. Together, they craft wines that reflect the unique characteristics of their terroir. Bodega Zolo is certified by Global Gap, ensuring its commitment to sustainable and organic winemaking practices.
Eco-Friendly Vineyard Practices
The winery sources grapes from its vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu, situated in the Mendoza River Valley at elevations between 800 to 1,000 meters above sea level. Manual harvesting is conducted using eco-friendly methods. The primary grape varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Torrontés, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Viognier. Bodega Zolo's red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines are crafted using organic techniques and aged for eight months in oak barrels. These wines are known for their vibrant fruitiness and ripe tannins. In recognition of its sustainable practices, Bodega Zolo received the Amorim Sustainability Award in 2017 from the DB GREEN Awards and a Gold Medal at The Brit Awards the same year.
