Mevi Winery: Nestled at the Foot of the Andes

Mevi Winery is a charming boutique winery located in the scenic town of Maipú, Mendoza. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Cordillera de Los Andes, the winery spans 12 hectares of lush vineyards, making it a picturesque destination for wine enthusiasts.

Mevi Winery is situated in the heart of Maipú, the first wine region of Mendoza, where it has established a reputation for producing exceptional wines.

Enjoy Breathtaking Views from the Tasting Room

Since its first harvest in 2002, Mevi Winery has grown significantly. The Mevi Family established a new winery, leading to its first full wine production in 2009. Today, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Andes from the winery's tasting room, which features an exhibition hall and a well-appointed space for sampling wines while overlooking the beautiful vineyards and countryside.

Winemaking with a Commitment to Nature

At Mevi Winery, the focus is on sustainable practices that respect local biodiversity. The vineyards primarily cultivate Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Torrontés. Natural irrigation from the melting snow of the Andes ensures the vines thrive in this unique microclimate. Once the grapes reach optimal ripeness, they are handpicked to create a range of exquisite red, white, and aromatic rosé wines, all under the Mendoza appellation.

The winery employs modern winemaking techniques, utilizing advanced machinery for efficient production. A hydraulic press gently extracts juice from the grapes, which is then fermented in state-of-the-art stainless steel tanks equipped with cooling units and hot water boilers. To enhance flavor and complexity, wines are aged in French and American oak barrels.

Very good attention from the staff. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. I also found that the prices were in line with the quality. The eye of the steak I ordered was amazing. Very large vineyard!

Let's start with the positive: the food is really very good. At Panera, you can see the quality and how good what you order will be. I ordered some tagliattelli with cream sauce and mushrooms, and the portion was truly spectacular and very generous, as was the very tasty and extra-large steak eye. The dessert, the flan, was delicious, and the wines were also very good. I didn't like the attention; the willingness to offer something or ask was very limited. We had to be very attentive when calling them to ask or to have them lift the plates. The place is simple, pretty, but not very aesthetically pleasing. If you're looking for a good photo on Instagram, you'll have to work hard. Would I go back? Yes, the food was very good, reasonably priced, and perhaps the waiters weren't busy.

Beautiful spot nestled amongst the vineyards. We did the basic varietal tasting (6,800 peso each) and shared the cheese and meat board (29,500 pesos). All delicious. Our server Leandŕo was lovely. There was a very basic explanation on the wines, which suited us just fine. I'm sure he would have gone into further detail if we asked. He spoke great English and was polite and professional. It is a terrific place to take your time and soak in the ambience. We will be back.

MEVI has created an exquisite environment to relax and appreciate their wines. Even if you didn't taste a drop, it would be worth visiting for the spectacular view of the mountains in the distance! They offer three sampling menus at different prices: a varietal, reserve and premium line. I opted to try their reserve line, which included a Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and (from the premium line) a blended Malbec-Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon. Each was delicious and I suspect worth the small additional cost over the varietal line. It is a fantastic place to pause your trip through the region's vineyards and enjoy the view together with a well-earned lunch!
