Carina winery: in the beautiful Mendoza wine region
Carinae is a winery in Maipú, the first area of the famous Mendoza wine producing region in Argentina. The winery fuses the fresh qualities of Argentinian soil with a complex French style to produce a variety of unforgettable wines.
A French influence
Brigitte and Philippe Subra moved to Maipú from France in 1998. In 2003, they made the dive into wine making with a lot of passion but only a little knowledge and experience. With the support of Michel Rolland’s team in Mendoza, they developed beautiful balanced vineyards and immersed themselves into the world of oenology. Their success shows, as the wines of Carinae have received critical acclaim.
Mendoza is the fastest growing wine producing region in the world. Carinae has vineyards in each of the three sub-regions of Mendoza, each producing grapes unique to the specific soil and climate characteristics of the areas. They are dedicated to producing high quality low yield vines which are irrigated with traditional flooding. They grow varieties such as Malbec, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Surrounded by green olive groves
The main winery Maipú is an idyllic boutique winery surrounded by olive trees. The name Carinae comes is Latin “from Carina,” and was inspired by Philippe’s love for astronomy. The constellation Carina appears in the southern sky, particularly on summer nights during harvesting season. This celestial name captures the magic of the Carinae estate, where wines are produced with care and passion.
They boast a variety of products all produced from their own vineyards including red wine, white wine, rosé, sparkling and dessert wine
