The Family Behind Bric Castelvej

Bric Castelvej winery is a testament to family values and a deep-rooted passion for winemaking. Founded in 1956 by Domenico Gallino, the winery has been dedicated to producing high-quality wines that reflect the essence of the Roero region. Today, Domenico's legacy continues through his son Mario and grandson Cristiano, who meticulously oversee every aspect of the winemaking process. From vineyard management to harvest and production, this father-son team ensures that each bottle embodies their commitment to quality and tradition.

The Terrains of Roero

The Roero region, known for its stunning landscapes of steep hills and lush valleys, provides an ideal environment for viticulture. The vineyards thrive on the hilltops, where the challenging terrain contributes to the unique character of the wines. The sandy, ochre soil is particularly well-suited for grape cultivation, allowing for the production of exceptional varieties such as Barbera Doc, Nebbiolo Doc, Roero Docg, and Roero Arneis Docg. As the seasons change, the vineyards transform, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors that beautifully frames the area's historic castles and towers.

Like being at home... welcomed with warmth and friendliness by Cristiano, a super wine expert... after half an hour and the arrival of his dad'... it felt like we were old friends... What about the wine... nothing short of superior quality at a more than honest price. Congratulations to the whole company Maurice

Unfortunately we can only award 5 points, it was a very special experience. Cristiano is a highly innovative winemaker with 200% passion. We were able to taste all the wines in a professional manner. The highlight was the parallel tasting of the red Nebbiolos. All wines produced at the highest level. The innovation with the amphora wines is spectacular, here we see a new star rising in the sky. The prices are too low for the quality offered, or in other words, buy these wines before Parker discovers and evaluates them.

We visited the cellar this morning, then wine tasting with bread and salami. Cristiano, who welcomed us, was super friendly, competent and professional, it is now increasingly difficult to find them. Excellent wines, prices and hospitality. Highly recommended. Not to be missed. Thank you Cristiano

Family-run winery surrounded by vast estate vineyards. Particular is the vinification of some wines in amphora from which the production of a rosé, in my opinion, superb "Il Nini" is obtained. Kindness and competence of Cristiano, a winemaker passionate about his work who carries on the family business together with his father. The visit to the cellar was interesting, followed by an excellent tasting of whites, reds and rosé. Must try... For photos follow my instagram profile @aury.garbarino
