Cantina del Barone winery: production of excellent wines
The Cantina del Barone winery and estate is situated in the magical region of Campania in Italy. Cantina del Barone has its roots in Cesinali, a tiny agricultural centre in the Italian province of Avellino where for centuries the Sarno family have dedicated their time to the care of the land and the production of excellent Italian wines. I
n the mid-nineties, Antonio Sarno purchased the company from a baron from Naples, and has since continued his hard work of producing wine in perfect harmony with the land and the unique climate of the region
Do not miss an excellent tasting at site
The soil that the Cantina del Barone winery is based on is mainly volcanic which means that it is rich in minerals and with a high skeleton content. The southern exposure of the land gives it perfect sunshine in combination with the influences of Monte Terminio, Monte Partenio and Fiano. All of the grapes at Cantina del Barone are manually harvested and transported to the cellar where they undergo a soft pressing without being destemmed. This is so that the stems can release antioxidants and tannins to the fermenting must. Fermentation takes place in steel without any added yeasts for a period of about 2 weeks.
Sustainable working methods
The wines produced by Cantina del Barone are the Paone and the Parrticella 928. Cantina del Barone winery is well known for being one of the founders of a small association called the ViTi (Winegrowers in d’Irpinia). This is a small network of companies that share the same production philosophies and commitment to sustainable and chemical free wine making processes.
