The Story of Cascina Sarìa

Cascina Sarìa is nestled in Neive, one of Italy's most picturesque villages, located in the stunning Langhe hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The winery's roots trace back to the mid-1970s when Giovanni Abbruzzo and his wife Maria purchased an old farmhouse surrounded by vast fields and vineyards. Over the years, the family expanded their vineyard plots, leading to the establishment of Cascina Sarìa in 1999, when they began vinifying and bottling their wines. Today, the winery is run by three of Giovanni's four children: Francesco manages the crops and vineyard maintenance, Alessandro oversees winemaking, and Maura handles commercial operations and customer relations.

Currently, Cascina Sarìa cultivates 13 hectares of vineyards, producing approximately 30,000 bottles annually. With advanced facilities and innovative techniques, the winery aims to increase production to 150,000 bottles while maintaining quality. The family’s dedication to their land ensures that they prioritize low yields per hectare, resulting in exceptional wines. The red wines are crafted from a diverse selection of both native and imported grape varieties, catering to a wide range of tastes. Meanwhile, the white wines are celebrated for their unique flavors and textures, representing the excellence of Italian winemaking.

We went to Cascina Sarìa for a tasting a few weeks ago, booking online without knowing the winery. Excellent choice! Maura and Silvio were very kind, they guided us through the vineyards, told us the story of their company and ended with a tasting of their excellent wines. They dedicated over two hours (and there were only two of us that afternoon) and great attention to us. We left very satisfied with the welcome and the offer and we really recommend them to everyone!

Walking through the Langhe we decide to visit some wineries. We choose Neive as a stop because it is not yet well known. I search on Google and find Cascina Saria which has a rating of 5 out of more than a dozen reviews. What can I say... I confirm the maximum rating! Tasting with detailed explanation of the wines and with cutting board and bread and grissini. It was like listening to a fairy tale... really! You can see that those who work there love their job. Just think, I was so obsessed with the stories that I didn't even take a photo... and I'm so sorry because for us it was the best tasting we've ever had! So if you want to visit a winery in the Neive area, book here!

Tour of the wine cellar and tasting. Once in the cellar, we receive a very friendly welcome and begin the tour. The tour of the vineyards enchanted me both for the atmosphere and for the splendid landscape thanks to the mild temperatures at the end of February. We then return to start the tasting of excellent wines, served with a good platter of cold cuts and cheeses. Barbera and Barbaresco top. Special mention goes to Mrs. Maura, who accompanied us with competence and kindness from the arrival to the purchase.
