Natural amphitheater at Cascina Vengore
Cascina Vèngore is a historic estate in Piedmont’s Terre Alfieri area famous for making regional organic wines. The ancient Roman estate is blessed by the presence of the permanent Cucheirolo spring. The natural amphitheater of vineyards surrounding Cascina Vèngore testify millennia of traditions of agriculture. The estate has 16 hectares of vineyards and 10 of woods. Organic farming and biodynamic practices gave birth to a real paradise for local flora and fauna.
Switch to organic farming in 2016
Three young brothers: Luca, Alessio, and Daniele work tirelessly with a lot of respect for the environment and nature. The terroir features ideal conditions for growing grapes. They planted 60,000 new vines in 2012 and converted to organic farming in 2016. Natural energy resources are used as much as possible. There is no use of herbicides or chemical fertilizers here that helps to make natural, fruity wines. Sustainable farming preserves the environment and the health of their vines.
Cultivation of ancient grains along with wines at the winery
The company respects plant biodiversity and started the cultivation of ancient grains, mainly piccolo farro or einkorn. The einkorn has low gluten content and is easy to digest. It is perfect for growing in organic farming because of less environmental stress. The winery uses Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Arneis grapes to make red and white wine. The company makes Terre Alfieri and Barbera d’Asti wines that rightly reflect the rich terroir and superior winemaking skills. It is a great place for wine tourism as the natural beauty is beyond beautiful and very relaxing.
