Chaffey Bros. Wine Co. is the creative collaboration of brothers-in-law Daniel Chaffey Hartwig and Theo Engela. They blend their passions for perfumery, history, and innovative winemaking to craft exceptional wines from low-yielding vineyards in the stunning Barossa and Eden Valleys of South Australia. Their approach honors the region's rich winemaking heritage while also highlighting unique vineyards, grape varieties, and subregions. With a focus on the purity of fruit and minimal intervention, their wines tell a story of the land and its people. Recently, they welcomed talented winemaker Huon Fechner to their team.

This is the essence of ‘New Wave Barossa’—wines that are soil-driven, aromatic, and textural, all while being unadulterated. Notably, all their wines are 100% un-fined, making them naturally vegan-friendly and rich in texture.

Visit Chaffey Bros. at their collaborative cellar door, ARTISANS OF BAROSSA, located in Tanunda. Here, you can relax and sample over 100 wines from eight small-batch winemakers in their inviting Wine Room or enjoy a meal at Essen, a premier dining destination in the Barossa.

Could not have celebrated a New Year's lunch any better. The food was delectable, the atmosphere heavenly, and the service impeccable. I would absolutely recommend this experience and look forward to our next visit. We enjoyed: * House bread with garden herb butter as a 'snack' * Roam sirloin with charred onion and chimichuri, and Margra lamb saddle with lentils and spiced yoghurt as our 'mains' * Raspberry doughnuts to finish.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting this incredible winery, and I must say, the highlight of our visit was Jonathan. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. Jonathan guided us through a wine tasting experience that was nothing short of exceptional. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the wines, but he also had a wonderful sense of humor that made the entire experience both educational and entertaining. What stood out the most was how genuine he was—just being himself, which made the experience feel so real and personal. Thanks to Jonathan’s expertise and his fantastic personality, we enjoyed the wines so much more than we could have imagined. Without him, I don’t think our experience would have been as memorable. He truly went above and beyond to make our visit special, and we’re so grateful for that. If you’re lucky enough to visit this winery, make sure Jonathan is the one serving you—you won’t regret it!

Came in for a quick lunch and add-on wine tastings without any booking. They offer either casual lunch at their deli benches (which are really high chair dining tables) or formal lunch at their dining room. We chose the deli bench, but the service is still spot on. When ordering (at the counter), the staff made great recommendations. They also provided water and spittoon upon request, delivered to our table. We ordered jerky chicken and salmon, and they’re both delicious. The food seems to be designed for wine pairing, since they’re salty and/or greasy, but goes perfectly well with the Eden valley Riesling. Will def come again if we ever visit the area!
