The Medieval History of Croix d’Irval
Croix d’Irval is located in one of the 44 ‘Premier Cru’ regions of Champagne, between the villages of Sermiers and Coulommes la Montagne. The brother and the son of a passionate Champagne broker run the winery. A broker assures the link between wine-growers and Champagne houses. The history of Croix d’Irval dates back as far as 1228, to the time of the Crusades. There is still the cross in memory of the Knights who left for the Middle East displayed on the top of the barn.
The High Quality Wines of Croix d’Irval
The winery produces excellent Champagnes from grapes grown on high-quality soils in the Marne. The ‘Grands Crus’ vineyards have slopes that allow an ideal sun exposure for the grapes. Among the total 312 villages, only 17 villages have a ‘Cru’ designation. The Champagne of Croix d’Irval is a ‘Premier Cru’ with a guarantee of its taste, finesse, and quality.
