Château de l’Éclair, Charming Winery Built in 19th Century
Château de l’Éclair is located right in the heart of the beautiful wine region Beaujolais. In 1837, the estate was run by the Guinon Family unil 1891 when it was passed down to Victor Vermorel. Vermorel bought the castle and replanted the land with vines. Nowadays, the estate is in the possession of winemaker, Michaël Larras, who runs Château de l’Éclair and its production with success.
Geaographical Characteristics of the Winery
The vineyards of Château de l’Éclair spread over various towns in the Beaujolais region such as Porte des Pierres Dorées, Jarnioux, Rivolet, Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne, Chénas. The vast diversity of soils throughout the region help in the production of high quality Beaujoalis wines. The estate covers an area of 20 hectares where grapes such as Gamay, Chardonnay, and Gamaret are grown. Château de l’Éclair produces world-class wines throughout several subappellations in Beaujolais.
