Château des Ravatys, Origins in the 19th Century
Château des Ravatys is an old wine estate bought by an engineering student from Lorraine, Auguste Solet, in the middle of the 19th century. The winery has many old architectural buildings in the middle of the wine estate which makes the place even more enchanting. The territory of Château des Ravatys is spread over an area of 29 hectares in AOC Brouilly and Cête de Brouilly appellations.
Local Terrain and Its Characteristics
The acidic soil lends the wine elegance, finesse and its individuality to the wines of Côte de Brouilly. The Brouilly appellation owes its taste to the granite sand giving the fruit its charm and suppleness. Château des Ravatys focuses on one variety which is Gamay with white juice. These grapes grows towards the hillsides of Mount Brouilly. Each plot produces nearly 50 hectoliters per hectare.
