The Del Tufo Estate: A Family Legacy

Del Tufo Winery is nestled in the picturesque Langhe wine region of Dogliani, Italy. Established in 1985 by Antonio Del Tufo and his wife Agata, this family-owned estate spans over 8 hectares of sun-kissed hills. The unique terroir of this area is renowned for producing exceptional wines that reflect the rich heritage of Piedmont.

The Vineyards of Del Tufo

Langhe's rolling hills provide an ideal environment for viticulture, celebrated for its stunning landscapes and fertile soil. The vineyards at Del Tufo are cultivated with care, using natural methods such as green manure and selected herbs to enhance soil fertility. This commitment to organic practices results in high-quality wines that capture the essence of the land. The harmonious growth of the vines leads to full-bodied, elegant wines that age beautifully over time.

The Cellars: Crafting Unique Wines

At Del Tufo, the winemaking process is a blend of tradition and passion. The cellars are designed to create wines with finesse, complexity, and a strong connection to the land. Slow maturation in the cellar allows each vintage to develop its unique character while maintaining authenticity. Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the distinct organoleptic profiles of each bottle, crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

Giving 5 stars would be an understatement. We had a family lunch and were pampered to say the least by truly professional staff who paid great attention to detail, with excellent food and fabulous wines and to top it off with an honest bill. A Sunday that we will remember for a while, we will certainly return

Bagna caoda d'aj: a truly magical experience, everything at the right time, in the right place and in the right way. We had a wonderful evening in every way. The bagna caoda with very fresh vegetables is excellent. Absolutely fabulous red wine that warms the body, soul and mood. The small orchestra with songs in the Piedmontese dialect and beyond was very welcome. The diligent presence of Mr. Bruno to quickly refill the fujot over and over again. Big compliments to the kitchen. I can say that we really felt at ease. The spectacle of the valley in the darkness of the night just fallen, filled with the glitter of the (silent) traffic, introduced us to an almost Christmas atmosphere and then gave us an equally magical awakening when the sun illuminated Monviso and the entire visible Alpine chain and whitewashed the peaks. A night that calmed us down and gave us a peaceful, intense and deep sleep (you can't sleep like that in the city). We would like to thank the entire Del Tufo family for the great kindness they showed us. We would be happy to come back as soon as possible. I'm just sorry that I can't give more 5 stars. A warm hug.

I found this place thanks to the Bagna Cauda Day 2022 initiative. It's a shame we went in the afternoon because the vineyard surrounding the property wasn't visible; to reach the parking lot, we climbed Dogliani Hill and walked about 100 meters along a dirt road, just like the parking lot. The restaurant is located in a single room accessed through a side door; the furniture is simple and linear but soothing in color and the lighting, also achieved through tiled lamps, is impressive. As soon as we arrived, we were allowed to choose our table, and once we chose it, it was spacious, well-set with the initiative's placemats and water glasses, wine glasses, and cutlery for a generous starter followed by bagna cauda. For my taste, I would have liked cloth napkins since it was Saturday night. The main course consisted of four types of cured meats each; I don't know if they made them. Before starting, they offered us a wine from their winery with the option of taking the remaining bottle home, since we don't drink much. We opted for a 2020 gift. The bagna cauda was served in the typical fujot shared between two diners and was well prepared, served hot several times, always filling our container until we were completely full. As a side dish, there were the inevitable vegetables, from cooked to raw: cabbage/celery/jerusalem artichoke/carrot/potato/cauliflower/fennel/beetroot. At the end of the day, we were also offered dessert, and I had the nougat merignata, a small portion that was lost in the large plate but excellent in flavor and consistency, with halved or whole hazelnuts inside, very welcome. The coffee was a full-bodied Vergnano and pleasant on the palate. The two owners were also pleasant, with whom we were able to exchange a few jokes during service and also asked us how the evening was going. The only negative is that I would have preferred one fujot per person rather than shared between two. The place is also pet-friendly, as there was a calm and very docile dog belonging to another guest. The price was reasonable for the afternoon courses outside, and the swim and wine were a fixed price.

We were very impressed by the super friendly and warm welcome from the Del Tufo family. Excellent, dreamy menus and fantastic wines. After registering in advance, we were able to stay there overnight with our camper and have breakfast in the morning. A dreamlike environment with a wonderful view as far as the Maritime Alps. Many thanks to the Del Tufo family for the wonderful time.
