Drakesbrook Wines: A Family Tradition

Drakesbrook Wines is a family-owned boutique winery located in the scenic Peel region of Western Australia, just 90 minutes from Perth. Founded by Bernard Worthington in 2000, this winery began with a vision to create exceptional wines. Bernard, a former property dealer, discovered a stunning vineyard nestled between Chittering and Ferguson Valley, ideal for Mediterranean grape varieties and offering breathtaking views of the ocean and Lake Navarino. After pursuing a winemaking degree at Wagga Wagga Charles Sturt University, he planted the first vines in 2001. Today, his eldest daughter manages branding and marketing, while the second daughter oversees a family liquor store in Perth, assisting with distribution.

Drakesbrook Wines released its inaugural vintage in 2008, featuring Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Merlot.

Commitment to Sustainability

At Drakesbrook Wines, sustainability is a priority. The winery cultivates 17 different grape varieties across 200 hectares, employing dry farming techniques with minimal chemical intervention. This approach allows the natural environment of the Peel region to flourish. Known for its diverse landscapes, unique ecosystems, and abundant waterways, the Peel region is home to vineyards that produce distinctive wines.

Signature Wines of Drakesbrook

Starting with just four wine styles in 2008, Drakesbrook Wines has expanded its portfolio to an impressive 24 varieties. Over the years, the winery has garnered more than 70 awards, including the trophy for Best Rosé at the 2014 Qantas Western Australia Wine Awards for their 2014 Rosé. Each wine is handcrafted with meticulous attention, ensuring quality from vine to bottle.

Wonderful wines, atmosphere and beautiful appreciation for the incredible wildlife here by the owner, Bernie. Can’t recommend this place enough. We had a wonderful glass of rose and some Swiss cheese on the deck, with incredible lake views whilst listening to the black cockatoos! Can’t wait to return again. 🩷

What a hidden gem! This winery is beautiful. Had a few bottles of wine on the deck admiring the view and the wildlife. It’s such a peaceful place and dog friendly which is bonus. Will definitely visit there again

Just had a lovely chilled time at Drakesbrook Fine Wine. Beautiful setting overlooking a dam with ducks, ducklings, geese and watching black cockatoo’s flying. Enjoyed their fantastic selection of wines. Highly recommend you do yourself a favour and go and see the owners Bernie and Trish. Thanks guys for spoiling us ❤️

Wow 🤩 What an amazing intimate winery!! We had a wine tasting and purchased a few bottles of wine. The owners were lovely and allowed us to bring our own picnic and enjoy the views of the beautiful dam. The wine was great (Chardonnay a must). A really nice hidden gem and I would recommend to anyone 💯
