The Story of Peel Estate Wines

Peel Estate Wines stands as a landmark in the Peel region of Australia. Established in 1973, the winery began with the planting of its first Shiraz vines. Throughout the 1980s, the estate expanded its vineyard with additional varieties, including Chenin Blanc, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Cabernet Franc, and traditional Portuguese Port varieties. The inaugural wine, a Shiraz, was crafted in 1979 at Paul Conti Wines in the Perth Hills. The winery officially opened its doors in 1980, marking the beginning of a new era for local winemaking.

The Peel Wine Region

Located near the Indian Ocean, the Peel wine region benefits from a unique combination of coastal limestone soils and a Mediterranean climate. These ideal conditions contribute to the growth of high-quality grapes, resulting in wines that showcase the region's distinct characteristics and flavor profiles.

Peel Estate Wines is well worth a visit. It’s a lovely venue with a great outdoor setting and rustic charm. We enjoyed each and every one of their wines and couldn’t help but leave with a few bottles. It was also great getting to ask the founder, Will, questions about the process as he conducted our wine tasting. We will definitely be back!

Not too many WA wines sit happily in a bottle for 17 years. We just polished off a 2008 Cabernet. So balanced and bold. Great stuff guys.

Lovely spot to visit. Every second Sunday of the month, the markets are there with great stalls, live music & nice food and wine.. I am a big fan of their old vine zinfandel . With or without the markets on, it's worth a trip to the cellar door.

First visit today and won’t be our last hopefully. Very quiet and serene and a lovely get away whilst not having to drive for hours. The wines we sampled were excellent too and we can’t wait to pop open the ones we purchased.
