Crafting Iconic Wines in Margaret River Since 1972
The Birth of Fine Wine
Leeuwin Estate is a family-owned winery and one of the five founding wineries of the renowned Margaret River region in Western Australia. Established in 1972 by Denis and Tricia Horgan, the winery has flourished under the guidance of legendary Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi. Recognizing the land's potential for premium wine production, the Horgan family transformed their cattle farm into the celebrated Leeuwin Estate.
In 1979, the winery released its first commercial vintage, which quickly gained international acclaim when Decanter Magazine awarded its highest recommendation to the Art Series Chardonnay.
Precision in Winemaking
Since 1981, Leeuwin Estate has expanded its reach, exporting to 30 countries worldwide. The Art Series Chardonnay is celebrated as one of Australia’s most iconic wines, earning a spot in the “Heritage Five” and ranking among the top 100 wines of the year by Wine Spectator. Additionally, the Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon has received a remarkable score of 98/100 and is featured in the Hall of Fame by US Wine and Spirit Magazine.
A Hub of Culture and Fine Wine
Leeuwin Estate is not just about wine; it’s a celebration of fine food, art, and music. The estate boasts an award-winning restaurant, a welcoming cellar door, and an impressive art gallery. It hosts spectacular events and attracts visitors from around the globe. Guests can enjoy behind-the-scenes experiences that provide insights into the estate's rich history, the unique contemporary artworks featured on the ‘Art Series’ labels, and the philosophy that guides their winemaking process.
