The Birth of Fine Wine

Leeuwin Estate is a family-owned winery and one of the five founding wineries of the renowned Margaret River region in Western Australia. Established in 1972 by Denis and Tricia Horgan, the winery has flourished under the guidance of legendary Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi. Recognizing the land's potential for premium wine production, the Horgan family transformed their cattle farm into the celebrated Leeuwin Estate.

In 1979, the winery released its first commercial vintage, which quickly gained international acclaim when Decanter Magazine awarded its highest recommendation to the Art Series Chardonnay.

Precision in Winemaking

Since 1981, Leeuwin Estate has expanded its reach, exporting to 30 countries worldwide. The Art Series Chardonnay is celebrated as one of Australia’s most iconic wines, earning a spot in the “Heritage Five” and ranking among the top 100 wines of the year by Wine Spectator. Additionally, the Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon has received a remarkable score of 98/100 and is featured in the Hall of Fame by US Wine and Spirit Magazine.

A Hub of Culture and Fine Wine

Leeuwin Estate is not just about wine; it’s a celebration of fine food, art, and music. The estate boasts an award-winning restaurant, a welcoming cellar door, and an impressive art gallery. It hosts spectacular events and attracts visitors from around the globe. Guests can enjoy behind-the-scenes experiences that provide insights into the estate's rich history, the unique contemporary artworks featured on the ‘Art Series’ labels, and the philosophy that guides their winemaking process.

Leeuwin Estate is a must visit if you’re in the Margaret River region. We had the 3 course tasting menu which was incredible. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The wagyu was up there with the best I’ve had (scallop was also amazing!) We sat outside, which was well shaded with lovely view to the grass, surrounding gardens and the birds. So glad we chose here, 10/10 recommend!

We did a wine pairing experience, we arrived right at the reserved time so we didn't have time to do the tasting. The experience lasts 2 hours, the atmosphere is quiet, in an upper gallery with views of the gardens and the service is excellent. The menu has options to choose from, one of the dishes was accompanied by a type of wine, we asked about the characteristics of another wine that we thought could pair very well and we were surprised when they served us the wine we asked for so we could taste the differences. The only thing that caught our attention is that the wagyu they serve has a low marbling category and they didn't serve it at the point we asked for it. The dessert doesn't come with the wine included and we asked for a bottle to accompany it. We don't regret it. The best dessert wine we tried!! Excellent.

Today we visited Leeuwin Estate and it was our first time . My brother and his wife were over from the uk and we wanted to show them some of the fantastic wineries down south . We chose your winery and what an experience it was . We all loved it . The wine tasting was great and Amber who was our host was very knowledgeable. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us a great insight to the three course menu that we had chosen . The food was delicious and we had the Riesling wine to accompany our lunch . We all really enjoyed the lunch from start to finish And we would highly recommend anyone to try out your fabulous winery . An amazing experience which I’m sure my brother and sister in law will remember when they go back to the Uk .
