Here, you can witness the combination of hard work and dedication in the winemaking family. The wines are made with the perfect choice of grapes, having an ideal aroma to soothe your mind and fill you with energy.
Following the footsteps of ancestors
The history of Durin wove at the end of the 19th century when Isidoro Basso decided to cultivate a small plot of land on the Arroscia Valley. Today, Antonio and Laura handle the management of the winery, following the footsteps of the ancestors. Despite being a teetotaller, Laura knows in and out of the winemaking processes.
Preserving the conventional winemaking techniques
Durin cultivates around 260 plots of land where the family grows a vast array of grapes, including Pigato, Vermentino, Rossese, and Granaccia. The vineyard-zone houses top-quality Alicante, Lumassina, Ormeasco, Syriza, and Merlot as well. These vineyards are stretched over five different regions, Onzo being the biggest one with seven hectares of land.
The wine cellar of the Duran winery is the place where the actual magic begins. Antonio, preserving the conventional winemaking techniques of his forefathers, produces top-class red, white, and rose wines.
Besides, sparkling wines being the primary category of wines, he stores them inside the very famous archeological caves of Toirano for refining and ageing
