Nature at its best

Growing up and working as farmers, the owners Jesu and Nano learnt the lay of the land, overtime realizing that nature works it best, when given a chance. The winery tries to use innovation to a minimum, using animals to till the soil, taking advantage of their manure, through a compost plant in their land. The vines are not sprayed with insecticides, instead natural repellents, maximizing the plants natural defenses.

Vineyards at 800meters

The two native grapes of the Leon region are the Prieto Picudo and Albarín. Operating since the early 2000s, this vineyard is located in a unique area. Above 800 meters, on soils filled with dull unpolished pebbles, and a very low content of organic matter and fertility, this area was quite a challenge. Nevertheless the harsh winters, and challenging springs were all forgotten when the aroma of the ripened grapes filled the air during autumn.

Wine matured in caves

The winery is located in Valdevimbre, in the area popularly known as ‘Cima de los Ventanos’ (top of the windows) which houses a large number of underground caves which have been home to hundreds of wines over centuries. The wine extraction process relies heavily on gravity, minimizing mechanical pumping, preventing the loss of the natural rich flavor and aroma of the grapes. The maturing of the wines are done in concrete tanks and French oak barrels. All these is then left untouched in underground caves.
