Stunning Views at Finca Montepedroso Winery

Finca Montepedroso is located in the picturesque town of Rueda, within the Denomination of Origin (DO) Rueda in Castilla y León, Spain. Perched on a plateau at an impressive altitude of 750 meters, this winery is renowned for its exceptional Verdejo wines, showcasing the unique character of this native grape variety.

Modern Techniques for Exceptional Wines

Part of the Familia Martínez Bujanda, Finca Montepedroso spans 25 hectares, with vineyards ranging from 7 to 31 years old. The estate features three distinct soil types, mirroring the diverse soils found along the Duero River, including alluvial, clay, and silt-rich soils. The family’s passion for winemaking blossomed in Rueda, a region known for its high-quality white wines.

The winery was designed to harmonize with the landscape, utilizing cutting-edge technology to produce outstanding white wines, similar to their successful projects in Rioja and La Mancha.

Taste the Essence of DO Rueda

Acquired in 2008, Finca Montepedroso features a uniquely designed winery that opened its doors in April 2012. All wines produced here carry the D.O. Rueda label, with Verdejo grapes at the heart of their offerings, ensuring a true representation of the region's winemaking heritage.

Without a doubt, an excellent experience. Helena was super friendly and her explanation was very detailed about the history of the farm. I recommend experiencing it and above all tasting the quality of its wines.

Very interesting winery, very modern with modern furniture (Eames Chars etc.) only make one Verdejo, not the typical fruity style, more the long-lasting style (through periodic stirring of the yeast (fr. bâtonnage)). With a vertical from 2010-15 (excluding 2013) the older vintages also tasted very good.

We selected this winery among several options we had for a gift box, and it was a success. We have already visited 5 wineries in the area and Montepedroso, although it seems small and very new in the area, has a lot to contribute. The guide who accompanied us and explained the history, geography and characteristics of the wines is delightful, and like other wineries in the area, they make you feel the richness of the place. The wines we tasted were not the best that the winery can offer, but they did help to give you an idea of the great quality they work with. Not all Verdejos taste the same and a tasting teaches you to differentiate. We will undoubtedly return in summer, when this high-altitude winery will also be a visual pleasure.

A very interesting visit to a small winery of an important brand. Elena lives it as her own and transmits that passion to you. And the tasting... varied and surprising. You have to visit it.
