Forgotten Barrel is a historic property located on 3 acres near downtown Escondido. The winemaker, John Eppler brings over 30 years of Napa experience to San Diego. They have specialized in making Napa wine for the past 8 years and now have announced the addition of San Diego wine made at Escondido winery.

The oldest winery in San Diego

They are the oldest winery location in San Diego dating back to the 1880’s which is in the first grape growing region. It was fully restored in 2016 back to its original glory. Forgotten Barrel now occupies the former Ferrara Winery and it is now restored with a beautiful tasting room, outdoor patio’s and arbor areas to enjoy a picnic, glass of wine and scenery.

The winery provides romantic views and a rustic, dramatic Barrel Room, original homestead buildings, barns, winery and tasting room, outfitted with all the modern amenities.
