The Mondo Family Wine Estate in Piemonte

Located in the picturesque Piemonte region, the Mondo family wine estate sits atop a ridge resembling a sleeping woman. The family has a long-standing reputation as skilled winemakers in San Marzano Oliveto, near Asti. Founded by Ernesto Mondo after World War II in 1945, the estate saw significant growth when his son Franco joined in 1978, introducing bottling, acquiring new vineyards, and expanding their sales network.

Artisanal Winemaking Tradition

Today, Francomondo produces approximately 65,000 bottles annually, with 60% exported and 40% sold within Italy. The winery retains its artisanal charm, managed by Valerio, his father Franco, and his daughter Beatrice, who joined the family business in 2015.

Perfect Conditions for Vine Cultivation

The estate spans 11 hectares, with 60% dedicated to Barbera grapes, complemented by Moscato Bianco, Dolcetto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cortese, Chardonnay, and Favorita varieties. Barbera remains the cornerstone of the Mondo family's offerings, producing traditional Barbera D’Asti DOCG, Barbera D’Asti Superiore DOCG, and Nizza DOCG wines.

Situated in the western part of the Nizza production area, the winery boasts stunning views from the top of Monferrato Hill.

The wines reflect the family's rich heritage and the unique terroir of the region.
