A Boutique Winery in Monforte d’Alba
Gianfranco Alessandria is a family-owned and run winery that continues the tradition begun two generations ago. The winery is located in Monforte d’Alba, a small village in the Barolo area that over time has attracted the attention of the lovers against the Langa, helping them to discover the history, scenery, food, and wines of our area.
Gianfranco Alessandria and Their Terroir
The estate stretches across 5.5 hectares of vineyards in the Piemonte region of San Giovanni, which is situated in the area of some of Monforte’s best known Crus. They produce spectacular Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto with the special combination of soil, sun, temperature management. Gianfranco Alessandria ensures unblemished, perfectly ripe fruit ready for the further winemaking process with all the work done in the vineyard by hand. The winery offers an excellent choice of handcrafted wines including Dolcetto D’alba DOC, Barbera D’alba DOC, Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, and Barolo DOCG.
Natural and Traditional Way to Produce Great-Tasting Wines
Most of their process follows the tradition that is inherited from generation to generation. They are based on natural principles, respecting the time, and methods required to obtain a product in the purest form. All the tasks in vineyards are done manually. The workers use organic and sustainable methods on their farms while keeping the ecosystem in mind and continually protecting their vines for the future. Using hand pruning in the vines until the bottling of the wines, winemakers do not make any compromise and put quality above all which is directly reflected in the wine. They also offer their Grand Reserve Wines which are aged in fancy French oak barrels.
