A Boutique Winery in Monforte d’Alba

Gianfranco Alessandria is a family-owned winery that has been crafting exceptional wines for over two generations. Nestled in the charming village of Monforte d’Alba, located in the heart of the Barolo region, this winery invites wine lovers to appreciate the rich history, stunning landscapes, and culinary delights of the area.

Gianfranco Alessandria and Their Terroir

Spanning 8 hectares in the renowned Piemonte region of San Giovanni, Gianfranco Alessandria is surrounded by some of Monforte’s most celebrated Crus. The winery specializes in producing exquisite Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto wines, thanks to the unique combination of soil, sunlight, and temperature management. Each grape is hand-harvested to ensure only the finest fruit is selected for winemaking. Their portfolio includes handcrafted wines such as Dolcetto D’Alba DOC, Barbera D’Alba DOC, Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, and Barolo DOCG.

Natural and Traditional Winemaking Practices

Gianfranco Alessandria adheres to traditional winemaking methods passed down through generations. Their approach emphasizes natural principles, allowing time and care to shape the wine into its purest form. All vineyard tasks are performed manually, with a focus on organic and sustainable practices that protect the ecosystem. From hand pruning to bottling, the winemakers prioritize quality, which is evident in every bottle. Additionally, their Grand Reserve Wines are aged in premium French oak barrels, enhancing their complexity and character.

Unfortunately we didn't try the wine due to time constraints. But it should be excellent. Very nice family service. Tasting on site (free) possible, but it's better to make an appointment as it's not always on site. Property inconspicuous, can easily be overlooked. Highly recommended!

Fabulous wine. Exceptional host. Vittoria was the highlight of our Piedmont experience. She is engaging, knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and above all - passionate about the wine she and her family make. Great place if you really want to learn about how really good wine is made. They also have outdoor seating options when it’s cooler outside.

Super friendly lady who gave us a wine tasting. Smaller than the other wine merchants, which makes it more personal for us. Thanks for the tasting! The Barrolo is great!
