Grand Tokaj, Beautiful Winery Surrounded by Greenery

Tucked amongst the greenery in all directions, Grand Tokaj Winery has its root grounded deep in the established wine region of Tokaj-Hegyalja. The winery formally operates under the name Tokaj Kereskedőház. In 2013, the winery went through a renovation and converted into an innovative wine estate to satisfy modern wine lovers’ needs.

A Leading Hungarian Winery

Boasting a winemaking legacy of over 70 years, Grand Tokaj is a leading winery in Hungary, and home of the renowned Tokaj Aszu. At the estate, traditional and historic winemaking methods are still protected under the supervision of Károly Áts. Along with conventional processes, the winery has adopted various state-of-the-art technologies with a 6.6 million liter capacity of tank-hall. Grand Tokaj also has a wine museum, dating back to 1920, where the owner keeps his vintage wines.

Respecting the local terrain and natural surroundings, the winery cultivates a vast category of grapes, comprising of Furmint, Harslevelu, Sargamuskotaly, Kabar, Zeta, and Koverszolo. Grand Tokaj desires the best berries, so the staff handpicks the vineyards before moving them to the cellar for fermentation.

Grand Tokaj Winery has the largest wine cellar in the East-Central Europe region.

Wines in the Vast Underground Cellar

More than 25 years old, the cellar at Grand Tokaj Winery was made by converting four-centuries-old rock mines into a fantastic underground storage facility. It is a five-kilometer long, double story building where wines are kept for significant aging and refining. The luscious white and dessert wines, made with PDO and PGI labels, and some of the best vintages, are always available for guests while tasting.
