Il Girapoggio - A Fusion of Tradition and Modern Winemaking

Founded in 2003, Il Girapoggio winery is the brainchild of passionate wine lovers dedicated to producing exceptional wines. By blending traditional methods with contemporary winemaking techniques, they ensure that each bottle reflects the rich heritage of the Piedmont region.

Distinctive Characteristics of Their Red Wine

Il Girapoggio's red wines are known for their striking ruby red color and an alcohol content ranging from 13% to 13.5%, depending on the vintage. The flavor profile is predominantly dry, featuring a subtle bitter aftertaste that sets it apart. These wines pair beautifully with red meats and medium-aged cheeses, best enjoyed at a temperature of 16-18 degrees Celsius.

New Vineyards and Sustainable Practices

The newest vineyards at Il Girapoggio were established in the spring of 2004 in Localita Monte, Verrua Savoia. These vineyards, covering approximately 10,000 square meters, were designed to mirror the style of the long-abandoned vines in the area. Situated on a steep south-facing slope at 270 meters above sea level, the soil is a blend of limestone and sandy textures. The vineyard consists of 85% Barbera AT84 and F3, with 15% Merlot, arranged in rows 2.5 meters apart.

At Il Girapoggio, vinification occurs in stainless steel, temperature-controlled vats using selected Piedmontese yeasts to enhance fermentation. The grapes undergo a careful process of de-stemming and gentle pressing with advanced neoprene roller technology, ensuring the highest quality wine production.

Very good wine produced by a family company that pays great attention to innovation while keeping a great deal of tradition. True wine enthusiasts. I recommend a visit to the vineyard between September and October because you can enjoy a truly particular landscape.

in Verrua Savoia there is always going up and down, imagine when the hamlet is called Monte... that's the beauty of it. The company is located in a typical rural environment, and is the classic country house with spaces for the production and sale of barbera. The place created from the old barn with a wide view is beautiful for tastings. Very kind owner, the visit to the vineyard, a stone's throw from home, is also interesting
