Kivelstadt winery: in mesmerizing California wine region
Located in the famous and amazing California vineyards, Kivelstadt winery really brings out the best of the abundant Californian terroir. The Cellars was founded by Jordan Kovelstadt, who after leaving a career in consulting in his early twenties, then travelled the world making wine in California, Australia, Chile, and Argentina.
Following a minimal intervention principle
In 2007, drawing inspiration from both his winemaking experiences in the new world and his family’s deep passion for European cuisine, wines, art and culture, Jordan made 125 cases of Estate Syrah.
This balance of the new and the old, in technique, in philosophy, with a nod toward the rich history and balance of the old-world wines that came before, has been the focus of their exploration and production of the incredible California vineyards
Grape varieties of Chenin Blanc, Chardonay, Sauvignon Blanc, Carignane, Grenache, Syrah, Charbono, Zinfandel, Marsanne and Roussane are cultivated through minimal intervention, and an array of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines are produced. To let the grapes and the vineyard shin through is the top priority. Kivelstadt winery also likes to experiment with different techniques such as carbonic maceration.

Since the inaugural 2007 vintage, the production of the winery has grown to 5,000 cases annually, and they strive to create wines of supreme intrigue that maintain a fun and approachable style while at the same time also challenge the status quo of conventional California wines.
