A Rich History and Terroir of a Renowned Winery Established in 1795

Founded in 1795, Kuentz-Bas Winery has been a cornerstone of Alsace's wine culture. The winery's cellar, built in 1894, continues to produce exceptional wines that are served in restaurants worldwide, with 70% of its production exported. This long-standing tradition reflects a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

The estate benefits from south-southeast facing vineyards, primarily composed of clay-limestone and sandstone soils. These unique terroirs impart deep textures and intense aromatic expressions to the wines, making each bottle a true representation of its origin.

Organic and Biodynamic Wine Production with Respect for the Terroir

Kuentz-Bas has been certified organic since 2007 and biodynamic since 2008. The winemaking process prioritizes minimal intervention, with no added yeasts or fining agents, and limited use of sulfur. The focus is on the grapes, ensuring that each wine authentically reflects its terroir.

Experience the authentic flavors of Alsace through wines that truly embody their roots.

Visited last summer while biking the wine route. Did not have a reservation but we were welcomed by a lovely lady who let us taste several delicious wines. We bought a few bottles and she gave us a wine opener which is why I am remembering to write a review now as I open up a bottle! Thank you! I think her name was Elisabeth? Anyways, great welcome, great wine 🍷, highly recommended.

A great time with the friendly and humorous winemaker! Kuentz Bas is now attached to the JB Adam estate where we were the day before and honestly it has nothing to do with it. Here, everyone has their place. We are welcomed with open arms and it is a real moment of sharing. A guided tour with anecdotes. The wine is affordable and accessible for novices. Very good :)

Lovely visit and tasting in this fine, high quality & unpretentious vineyard. We called at very short notice having tasted one of their delightful Vendange Tardive wines the previous evening and were welcomed in spite of a very busy afternoon. Excellent good value wines and a very friendly, lovely and knowledgeable hostess. Well worth the detour off the well beaten tourist trail. Thank you!

Our host welcomed us warmly. She gave us a really informative tour and told a lot of the history and heritage of this house. Afterwards we had a tasting which was done in an excellent and knowledgeable manner and where you could feel the passion she has in her trade. The wines were delicious. Highly recommended!
