Authentic Bio Wines Crafted in Qvevris of Kakheti
Levanis Marani Akhmeta: A Rich Heritage
Founded in 2017, Levanis Marani Akhmeta is located on the site of an ancient wine cellar, surrounded by an 80-year-old vineyard. The winery is named after the grandfather of the current owner, honoring a legacy of winemaking. The cellar sources only the finest bio-certified grapes to create natural wines. The first Qvevri wine was produced in 2018 and bottled in 2019, with a capacity to produce up to 10,000 bottles annually.
The Kakhetian Winemaking Tradition
At Levanis Marani, wines are crafted using traditional Qvevri methods. The process involves macerating grape skins and stalks for up to six months, followed by five months of aging without them. This natural approach ensures prolonged maceration and effective filtration, resulting in wines made without added yeasts or additives. The wines are aged in Qvevris at a natural temperature of 14°C and later stored in the cellar at 16°C.
Signature Wines of Levanis Marani
Levanis Marani Akhmeta specializes in four distinct wines: the red dry Saperavi, white dry Rkatsiteli, Kakhetian Green, and Kisi. Each wine is crafted from biologically pure grapes harvested in the Alaverdi village of Kakheti. Utilizing the traditional Kakhetian method, the winery produces exceptional Georgian wines that reflect the region's rich viticultural heritage.
